Our Mission

The mission of Park City Juniors Volleyball Club is to inspire and empower young athletes through the sport of volleyball. We want to practice, and we want to compete. We want athletes who train at Park City Juniors to develop a sense of self-discipline and pride in their efforts. We are dedicated to setting a standard of excellence through our values and professional methods of player development.

Core Values

Respect

We respect ourselves, our teammates, our coaches and our competitors. We demonstrate respect through our actions; we show up on time, we listen to others, we think before we speak, and we disagree respectfully. We communicate with empathy. We set our own boundaries and we respect the boundaries of others.

Community

Every player, parent and coach who participates in a PCJ practice is part of the growing volleyball community here in Park City, Utah. We represent a wide variety of individuals united by a common interest. We support and trust one another, and we know that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Effort

We show effort when we consistently choose to be great in the areas we can control. We come into the gym with a a smile, we have a positive attitude toward hard work, we encourage our teammates and unify groups. We take the extra step toward the ball. We choose to do the work, even when it might be out of our comfort zone.

Growth Mindset

We believe that we are always capable of learning. We recognize that every new situation, be it success, failure or challenge, represents an opportunity for growth. We are inspired by the success of our teammates and competitors, and we choose to learn from them rather than feel threatened by them. We compare ourselves to ourselves.

Our Coaches

Each member of the Park City Juniors coaching team brings years of volleyball experience on both the playing side and the coaching side of the game. While we love helping athletes hone their volleyball skills, our first priority is always the safety of every member of the community. That's why all Park City Juniors coaches are SafeSport certified and subject to annual NSCI background checks, helping to ensure a supportive and positive environment for every athlete.

Anna Cmaylo-Acton

Anna’s volleyball journey started in 3rd grade, when a classmate’s mom started a school volleyball team. She was hooked from a young age, and was fortunate to be surrounded with many opportunities to continue playing through middle school and high school. A four-year letter-winner at Santa Clara University, Anna enjoyed her top collegiate campaign as a sophomore in 2005 as she helped propel the Broncos to a program-record 27 victories, a West Coast championship, a berth into the NCAA Tournament national semifinals and a final No. 4 ranking in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll. She graduated as a three-time All-WCC First Team and three-time AVCA All-American.   After graduation, Anna went on to pursue a professional career in Europe, playing for a total of 6 seasons with several teams, including VBC Cheseaux (Switzerland), ATSC Kelag Klagenfurt (Austria) and Dresdner Sportclub 1898 e.V. (Germany). During 2 seasons with Dresdner Sportclub, Anna helped the team compete in Champion’s League, arguably among most competitive international leagues worldwide.   Anna officially retired from professional volleyball in 2015 but hasn’t completely stopped competing—when she’s not spending time with her family, she still spends some weekends playing sand volleyball in California and Utah.  At Park City Juniors Volleyball Club, Anna is thrilled to have a chance to create opportunities for kids in her community to play more volleyball!

Bethany spent her first two years of college competing for the University of California Santa Barbara. She was awarded the 2005 All-Academic Team and All-Freshman Team. Bethany transferred from UCSB to the University of Southern California to compete for the Trojans during her junior and senior year of college. During her senior season, her team made it to the Final Four of the NCAA tournament, finishing 3rd, and Bethany was nominated as one of thirty athletes for the Lowe's Senior Class Award. Katie Damon

Katie Damon brings a lifetime of athletic discipline and heart to her role at PCJ. Her journey began on the volleyball court, where she spent her high school years both playing and coaching the sport she loved. While she eventually pivoted her focus to track and field—becoming a Michigan High School State Champion and a collegiate pole vaulter for the University of Nebraska—her passion for volleyball has never faded. These experiences taught Katie the value of hard work and perseverance in sport, traits she now brings to her professional career. With over a decade of experience in childcare and an academic foundation in Nutrition and Health Science, she is deeply passionate about helping others reach their full potential. Between her technical knowledge and her extensive hands-on experience with children, Katie brings a holistic, energetic, and high-achieving approach to everything she does.

Following her playing career, Melissa spent a decade coaching at the prestigious Punahou School in Honolulu, as well as various high-level clubs. After a brief hiatus to raise her three children, Melissa and her family have recently relocated to Park City and she is eager to return to the gym. She is passionate about developing intermediate talent and instilling the same grit and technical precision that took her to the national stage.

Lindsey Calvin

A native of the central California city of Visalia, Lindsey played both indoor and beach volleyball at Saint Mary's College, an NCAA Division I school in the West Coast Conference. On the indoor court, she was an opposite. After graduating from Saint Mary’s in 2019 with a degree in English, Calvin played volleyball overseas for two years, first in Switzerland, then in Finland. Along with volleyball, her athletic background includes basketball and soccer. In June 2022, she graduated from the University of Washington with her education-focused master’s degree in athletic leadership. In addition to her full time job in account service and her work with Park City Juniors, Lindsey still finds time to compete on the beach, and in May of 2025 received a 5th place finish at an FIVB Futures event in Nuvali (Philippines) with her partner Melissa Powell.
