Park City Juniors Girls Club
2026-2027
Our Girls Club is our competitive track, designed for athletes who are ready to commit to a full season of structured training and tournament play. Club athletes practice 2 times per week and compete in Saturday tournaments across the greater Salt Lake City area every 2–4 weeks.
Season Overview
For the 2026-2027 season, we are aiming to field four tournament teams across the following age groups: 17s, 16s, 15s, and 14s.
Each team is built as a complete, balanced roster of 10–12 athletes — typically 1–2 setters, 2–3 middle blockers, 3–4 pins, and 1–2 defensive specialists or liberos. Keeping rosters intentionally small means every athlete on the team sees real playing time at tournaments.
Practices are expected to begin the first week of January 2027, with tournaments running roughly every 2–4 weeks through the final tournament in early May.
Placement Sessions
We plan to hold two placement sessions — one in September and one in October. Athletes are welcome to attend either session; we evaluate everyone who comes out.
We want to be straightforward with you about what placement looks like for our club program. Last year, nearly 80 athletes came out for just 28 spots across two teams. This year we plan to expand to four teams, but the reality of a competitive program is that we will not be able to offer a spot to every athlete who attends. We take the evaluation process seriously, and we do our very best to give every athlete a fair look — but ultimately, each team has a limited number of positions and we're building complete rosters, not simply filling seats.
We know that trying out for a team is a hard thing to do. It takes courage to put yourself out there, and we have enormous respect for every athlete who shows up. Delivering difficult news to athletes who aren't selected is genuinely the hardest part of running this program. If your athlete isn't offered a spot this season, we encourage them to keep developing — our Foundations program and summer camps are a great way to build skills and stay in the gym.
Age Group Eligibility
Our tournament teams are organized using AAU age brackets, which are determined by your athlete's age on July 1st of the current season — not by their academic grade or school year.
In other words, the age bracket your athlete competes in is based on how old they will be on July 1, 2027. For example, an athlete who is currently 14 but turns 15 before July 1, 2027 would be eligible for our 15s team — not the 14s.
A couple of important rules to keep in mind:
-
Playing "up" in age is allowed. A younger athlete may always choose to compete with an older age group if it's the right fit.
-
Playing "down" in age is not allowed. An athlete may not compete in an age group younger than their AAU-determined bracket.
This means that if your athlete will be 17, 16, 15, or 14 years old on July 1, 2026, they are eligible to try out for the corresponding team. If they will be 13 on July 1, they would need to play with our 14s team.
Athletes who will be 18 or older on July 1 fall outside our current age group offerings for this season.
Practice Locations
We do not own our own facility, and since our founding have been incredibly grateful to run our programming out of the facilities operated by Basin Recreation. Our practices are held primarily at Ecker Hill Middle School, with occasional practices scheduled at the Basin Recreation gym.
Season Pricing
We aim to keep our programs competitively priced for the region. Estimated costs for the 2026-2027 season are as follows:
-
Base season fee: approximately $1,700 - $1,900, depending on final scheduling and season duration
-
Uniform package: approximately $250 (one-time)
-
Tournament fees: approximately $35 per player per tournament, billed throughout the season
Pricing is subject to change. Final fees will be confirmed ahead of the placement sessions.
